Diplopia | |
Diplopia is one of the strongest impromptu mentalism effects that you can do with a borrowed deck of cards. Here's what happens: The magi asks to borrow a deck of cards. The spectator is invited to think of any card. They are asked to verify that the card is in the deck and it is. Then the magi thinks of a card and he then verifies that it too is in the deck. The magi challenges the spectator to find the card he was merely thinking of and offers to transfer his powers to the spectator to assist them with the process. With one touch, the spectator gets an image of the card and removes it from the deck, hidden from the magi's sight. The magi then attempts to find the spectator's thought of card. In the end, the magi correctly names the card. But the kicker here is that the spectator also has the magi's thought of card! There is no forcing and no equivoque involved. Additionally, this manuscript details with permission the heavily sought after Infinity Principle created by Martin Nash. Martin used to sell this teaching for $50 a person!

ICON is a multi-phase coin routine that will knock your audiences for a loop. Here's what happens: The audience is invited to play along in a game of chance. A pile of coins are laid out on the table and they are asked to select any number of coins. A prediction is made that will be revealed later. One by one, the audience eliminates each of the chosen coins until only one remains. That one coin is examined and the date written upon it matches the prediction made at the beginning. But wait, there's more. The magi raises the coin to his fingertips and begins to concentrate. Visually, before everyone's eyes, the coin begins to bend. Everything can be examined before and after. This routine is destined to become a classic. Get in on this outstanding routine.

Sympathy (for the Devil) Cards | |
This is Paul’s take on the classic Sympathetic Cards as popularized by Nate Leipzig years ago. Here’s what happens: The magi enters with a pack of cards and a sealed envelope. A spectator is invited to participate in an experiment of synchronicity in which they will make all the decisions. Everything is handled by the spectator and every decision is completely their own and yet the magi shows he has been in control the entire time by revealing a prediction that matches the exact condition of the spectator’s cards. But wait, there’s more. Further decisions are made by the spectator that lead the magi to ask that the remaining cards be dealt to arrange a phone number. After they are satisfied, the number laid out is dialed. Suddenly, the envelope that has been sealed and present the entire time begins to ring. The envelope is torn open and the phone is answered by the magi. The spectator freaks out because they are on the other end of the call.

H.C.E. -- Here Comes Everybody | |
So what is H.C.E.? First, what it is not. It is not for close-up work, this is for professional performers who's audiences exceed thirty spectators. It is not simple, on first take you will probably feel daunted and weary; don't say I didn't warn you. And, although it is completely bulletproof, it is not for the faint of heart; as you will have to improvise and riff it's themes throughout. No pre-show work. Nothing is written down. So then, what is it? It is about a half hour show, give or take ten minutes, that fits in your pocket (basically a red and blue deck). It is the closest thing to direct mind reading possible with a deck of cards that you can do for the proper sized audience.
